Tzevet Spotlight

Sima Stein | Mazkira, Detroit

Name: Sima Stein

Shevet: Hineni

Current role in Bnei Akiva: Mazkira of Bnei Akiva DETROIT

What is your first memory of Bnei Akiva? Probably just being in snif as a chanich with my older brother as my Madrich

Why do you think it’s so important to be involved in Bnei Akiva as a High SchoolerJust being in an environment that cares so much about Israel and pushes the idea of zionism so much is amazing and really can impact high schoolers view of zionism and helps my love for Israel grow. It becomes such a natural thing for us to love Israel and the Jewish community and I think high school is the perfect time for us to really work on that. In addition to that, Bnei Akiva really teaches high schoolers how to be leaders and step up and go out of their comfort zones. And it is so important to start learning how to step up as a leader and a role model.

Where is your dream place to live in Israel? It is my dream just to live in Israel, I haven’t even thought about which place in Israel to live yet just about actually getting to Israel first!

What does Torah V Avodah mean to you? Torah V’Avodah means learning the torah and acting in a torah way while loving Israel and being a Zionistic jew.

Who would you rather be David Ben Gurion or Golda Meir? Golda Meir for sure.

What one item is a must to pack for a Bnei Akiva Shabbaton? A shirt to wear under your tilboshet, because everyone knows they are very see through.

Most meaningful Zionist/Jewish quote? “Zionism springs from an even deeper motive than Jewish suffering. It is rooted in a Jewish spiritual tradition whose maintenance and development are for Jews the basis of their continued existence as a community.”

What is your aliyah date? Be’h very soon!
